Don’t just learn Rhythm guitar,
Become a worship guitarist

We teach musicianship skills, not songs

Our community members are focused on 3 things

1. LEAD WHERE YOU’RE AT

We know worship is a journey and there’s always something more to learn. That’s why we’re not afraid to lead where we’re at.

2. Serve skillfully

We continue to grow as musicians to serve our small communities. We practice smart, show up prepared, and perform well.

3. Inspire others

We aren’t only focused on ourselves, but make a point to share our talents with our communities through music.

THE FOUNDATION OF RHYTHM GUITAR SKILLS

How Do You Grow As a Guitarist?

At WGA we know rhythm guitar skills are developed through 4 main principles.

These are the foundational tenets for all rhythm guitar growth, especially when it comes to worship.

Read the blog post to learn how you can stay focused on what you need to succeed.

  • Learn to play the right chords. Variations of chords are called ‘Chord Voicings’.

  • Learn to play the chords at the right time. The transitions from one chord to the next are called ‘Chord Transitions’ or ‘Chord Changes’.

  • Learn to play the right rhythm that matches the feel, groove, and style of the song. These rhythms are called ‘Strum Patterns’ and are the basis for all rhythms played on guitar.

  • Learn to play at the right tempo. When you are playing a song (especially with other musicians), it’s very important that everyone plays at a consistent tempo. Song tempos are indicated in ‘BPM’, or Beats Per Minute.

  • I wanted to let you know that I’ve benefited a great deal from your website already and have found it to be one of the better sites I’ve come across for guitar and especially the focus on worship.  I’m older and fairly new to playing acoustic guitar during worship at church.  I play with another guitarist and have found that we can get a fuller sound if we don’t play the same song chords.  Thus, your Common Capo Voicings sheets are extremely helpful.

  • I remember him just starting out with us in high school and right away he was a stand-out as a guitar player and musician. Logan has always had a servants heart and a HUGE desire for excellence. I remember seeing him work on frustrating areas of his growth and press though and then teach others!

  • Logan is a well accomplished musician who is more than enjoyable to work with.
